When a bride wants to get married in Lake Tahoe they are typically are not looking for a big-city super glam, formal, or sleek look, whether it be hair or makeup. Brides pick Tahoe because they have a love for nature, outdoor beauty, and most likely will have an outdoor wedding. We love to help our brides narrow down the hairstyles based on the location, elevation, weather components, and theme.

Tahoe offers unparalled outdoor beauty and most weddings have some sort of outdoor element. If a bride is having an outdoor wedding we like to remind them about the weather elements they may face on their wedding day. Summers in Tahoe often have windy afternoons and winters always have snow, so we like to talk about the outdoor elements our brides may face on their wedding day and factor this into their hair decisions.

These are our top tips for our Tahoe brides.

1. Try not to wear hair completely down with waves. The wind can tangle your hair and the snow will flatten your style – not what you are looking for!

2. For those who just don’t want an updo we suggest half up, half down. A half up, half down style is whimsical and loose. This will keep your hair looking pretty even with the mountain elements. We love a pretty design such as a boho braid or lovely twist at the top.

3. Our favorite style for an outdoor Tahoe wedding is a loose, whimsical updo, with pieces pulled out and styled to frame your face. This way curls cannot be compromised or flatten out with time. If the wind picks up and there are flyaways your hair won’t look like it became a victim of the wind or snow but rather look like it was styled that way intentionally – without grabbing the attention of the camera or others!
