Dreamy Squaw Valley Stables Wedding
On a beautiful, brisk fall day in September, Megan and Steven shared vows in front of their friends and family in the valley at the base of
. Planned by
and captured by
, this wedding was everything a mountain wedding should be.The day began on the other side of the meadow at the Resort at Squaw Creek where the bridal party and groomsmen got ready in matching suites on opposite sides of the building. The forecast called for a sunny day, but mid-morning there were brief showers for a couple of minutes which resulted in a rainbow directly over the stables, if that's not a sign we don't know what is.
Guests arrived via shuttle to the venue early to enjoy some light charcuterie, lawn games, and to take in the details before the ceremony. The bride and groom opted to wait until the ceremony to see each other for the first so that they were able to share that sweet, intimate moment with their loved ones. The groom's father officiated the ceremony and shared a few lovely stories of the couple's journey together. Sealed with a kiss, the bride and groom were showered with wildflowers from their guests as they walked back down the aisle as husband and wife.
While the bride and groom ran off into the meadow for photos, guests enjoyed a sunset happy hour with
, delicious passed hors d'oeuvres, lawn games, a polaroid guest book, greeting the horses at the barn, and a chance to mingle amongst friends and family.Places were set along long, rustic farm tables underneath a beautiful tent decorated with greenery, lanterns, and chandeliers. The father of the bride, the maid of honor, and the best man all gave heartfelt speeches while a family style dinner catered by Butter & Salt was served. Once dinner and speeches were done, guests gathered outside the tent around a dance floor surrounded by bistro lights for the bride and groom to share their first dance. After the traditional father of the bride and mother of the groom dances, the dance floor filled, and never emptied. Guests danced under the stars and lights all night long (until Tahoe's 10pm curfew) laughing and singing while
orchestrated one hell of a party. In lieu of a cake, the couple decided on churros and Mexican drinking chocolate as their desert. After a full day and night filled with love and laughter, the couple walked through two lines of streamers and bells, sharing a final kiss in front of friends and family and said goodnight.
