For outdoor ceremonies and receptions, Big Pine offers a stunning outdoor venue with a tiered stone ceremony stage and a secluded lawn that is surrounded by towering pine trees.  The Big Pine Living Room, reminiscent of a great room of an old Tahoe lodge with an all-wood interior, open beam architecture, and fireplace, accommodates 32 guests and is ideal for intimate rehearsal dinners, welcome receptions, or farewell brunches.

Mountain Deck allows for an outdoor ceremony on an elevated platform, as well as a mingling area for drinks and appetizers, before your reception takes place just inside of the adjoining Mountain Ballroom, or out on the deck during warmer months.

For indoor celebrations, the Mountain Ballroom offers a 5,400-square-foot space with 16-foot ceilings and a flexible layout that can fit up to 120 guests.

      History

As you enter Granlibakken’s 74-acre valley, you are transported back to classic Tahoe. It’s where our early pioneers found their own adventures. It’s where people came by horse-drawn sleighs to hand-hewn cabins to commune with nature and one another.  The adventuresome came to traverse cross-country trails. And those seeking greatness came to soar off the ski jump where national champions would be crowned and Olympic athletes would be named. It’s where Rusty Rustad first dreamed of building Granlibakken—“a hill sheltered by fir trees”—in 1934. Time has slowly transformed the alpine haven, bringing with it a state-of-the-art conference center, executive retreat lodges, and modern-rustic accommodations designed to offer the comforts of home in a private mountain setting. But one thing that has never changed is Granlibakken’s enduring promise to offer guests the nature-inspired respite they need to work, play, connect, and celebrate with intention.

      TESTIMONIALS

Granlibakken’s Big Pine Lawn and Lodge created the perfect atmosphere for this outdoorsy couple, who wanted to get married in a woodsy setting, given their own love story’s tie to the outdoors, camping; without sacrificing the ability to sneak lakeside, to experience a piece of the beautiful Lake Tahoe waters, for a romantic couple’s photoshoot on the day of their union. The location could not have been a better fit. This Granlibakken wedding delivered on all levels, as Whitney & Richard integrated various finer details to add touches of personalized magic to their special day: from an elevated ceremony (literally atop the rock garden), to the floral arch masterpiece that framed their vows, to the joyous laughter amongst the crowd in the bubble-filled recessional, to the groom’s own hand calligraphy on place cards, and every detail in between. The whole package was only sweetened by the bride’s complete comfort, knowing that she could enjoy the delectable bites at the buffet to the fullest, despite a long list of severe food allergens she usually had to watch out for, given Granlibakken’s superior attention, care, and service … and, without the slightest doubt in her mind, having sampled the fine cuisine with nothing but delight in the months leading to this perfect day she won’t soon forget Stephanie Morris - Wedding Planner - Stephanie Marie & Co
