If you haven’t seen Rise Floral’s work, where have you been? Brooke Haffey has been turning floral dreams into a reality since 2018, with her specialty being thoughtfully curated weddings and events. Brooke is known for valuing timelessness over trends, and it shows in her work. “I believe that when chosen and arranged mindfully, flowers can shift us into the present moment, offering a space of expression and healing.” When she is not flowering events, you can find her lost in a great book, exploring meadows, and hiking with her husband and their rescue pup. In this post, we talk to Brooke about her flower powers and her picture-perfect life in Tahoe.
What brings you the greatest joy in your life?
Time spent with my family and friends, especially my niece. My golden retriever Cami, who we rescued last year, and of course, my loving husband.
What brought you to Tahoe?
We came here to be closer to family and for all of the incredible outdoor adventures and sports, like hiking, mountain biking, and snowboarding. I started marketing my business in Tahoe while still living in Florida. It really took off quickly, which gave us the confidence to make a move.
What is a must-see hidden gem in Lake Tahoe?
I will simply say the hidden trails across the street from our house! We live at a super high elevation, and the views are gorgeous.
Describe Lake Tahoe to someone that has never been here.
A stillness and natural beauty that is unmatched.
Tahoe lifestyle: winter or summer?
That is a tough one. But, I love both, so I refuse to choose!
If you were not a wedding florist, what would you do?
If I was not a wedding florist, I would be an interior designer. I have absolutely loved remodeling and designing our home.
What inspires your work?
I am heavily inspired by the organic placements of the natural world, interior design, fine art paintings, and architecture.
What is a fun fact about your company?
My husband, Hayden, comes along for many of my weddings, so you will likely meet or see him. I call him my on-site engineer, and he loves the logistical side of what I do.
What is the career highlight you are most proud of?
Having a wedding featured in the New York Times.
What is your go-to conversation starter with a potential client?
How do you envision your wedding day, and what feeling would you associate with it?
How would you describe the perfect day in Lake Tahoe?
Fresh snowfall and snowboarding in powder with friends all day, followed by an evening curled up with hot cocoa and my pup by our wood-burning stove.
What are you most proud of?
My resilience throughout my five-year journey with chronic illness and many surgeries, and how I got myself to a place of deep healing and joy.
Who inspires you the most?
What is your life motto?
The only way out is through.
What was the most recent thing that made you laugh?
My husband and I sharing baby name ideas – just for fun. I think he only said one that was serious, but they all had me belly laughing!
What’s the most useless talent you have?
I make very good guacamole!
What is the closest thing to real magic?
When someone enters your life, just when you need it.
What was your go-to activity during quarantine?
What kind of wedding guest are you?
The one crying at the ceremony.
Working in the wedding industry is not for the faint of heart. So how do you rest and rejuvenate?
Truer words have not been spoken–deep breathing and meditation.
What is something people might not know about you?
I was born and raised in Florida.
Any four-legged friends in your home?
Our golden retriever Cami and our cat Yinny. We rescued both, and they bring so much joy and love to our lives!
