We are completely enamored with Tim and Becka’s story and their wedding! They met on a fall day in San Francisco; love shortly ensued. Six years later, Tim surprised Becka with the most romantic proposal: “We got engaged in Venice along the canal on a beautiful outdoor patio under the twinkly lights hung throughout the city for the holidays.” Insert heart-melt here.
When planning for their special day, they both knew that their wedding had to be in fall and incorporate the outdoors and a space that Becka could unleash her creativity on. They chose The Lodge at Tahoe Donner and planned an outdoor ceremony under the pines.
It was very important that the wedding be unique and filled with personal touches. Becka went above and beyond by hand-burning guests’ names on wood favors and the seating chart and by staining and scripting all the signs used at the wedding. Family friends contributed by creating a hand-built Huppah for the ceremony, arch behind the head table (with hand-sewn lace), and a hand-blown piece of glass that Tim stepped on as everyone yelled “Mazel Tov” at the end of the ceremony.
From the Bride:
“The Tahoe Donner community gave us the opportunity to turn the celebration into a full weekend extravaganza. We planned a lake day, a welcome BBQ, the wedding, of course, and a farewell brunch.
To our surprise, a snowstorm came the day of our scheduled lake day! In the end,
it worked out, and the sun came out on Saturday for the big day. The snow had melted away from the grass just in time for our ceremony. It makes for a great memory for all of our guests!
A highlight of the wedding day itself was definitely the live music.
Tim and I go to as many concerts and music festivals as we can, and a particular artist Jackie Greene has been a constant throughout our relationship.
When we met Ellen Flanagan (an amazing violinist) and found out that she is also part of a bluegrass band (Lost Whiskey Engine), we knew it would be a perfect fit. They surprised us with our three favorite songs during the cocktail hour, and it was absolutely perfect to dance together as husband and wife, surrounded by all of our friends and family.
It was so special for me to make some of these dreams come true through my own wedding.”
