A Squaw Valley Ski Elopement
Here at Tahoe Unveiled we love to see people have fun and get creative with their weddings. Lake Tahoe is such an amazing area and to see someone really take advantage of what it has to offer really gets us excited. This wedding, is one of those examples. Captured by
this couple took full advantage of a winter wedding, from portraits in the snow to the bride skiing in her wedding dress, this wedding is truly one of a kind.
Miles and Katie both grew up skiing at Squaw and Northstar as kids so it was important to them to incorporate that into their wedding day. Their ceremony was intimate Catholic service, for just a few of their closest family and friends inside a private residence at Northstar with Katies father in law as the minister. The day itself was a powder day, as photographer Holly Shankland recalls they probably got 6-10 inches that day! After the ceremony they popped champagne, took pictures in the snow and then headed to the
for a beautiful dinner, toasts and more champagne.
A detail we love:
Katie's something old
: A diamond from maternal grandmother's engagement ring
Something new
: Her Veil
Something borrowed
: Her earrings for the wedding day
Something blue
: The skies on their ski day!
Due to holidays and weather they decided to do the actual "ski in the dress day" the following Wednesday when crowds were a little smaller. The month of February in Tahoe saw snow almost every day, but this day was a perfect blue bird. The first one in weeks. It could not have been better conditions and both the bride and groom were awesome skiers! The bride was the true star of the show, skiing better than most, all while wearing a dress and looking like a babe!! Everyone was stopping to take photos and hooting and hollering from the chair lift. After skiing they met up with their families at the
in Squaw Valley for a romantic "shot ski" for two and sandwiches and beer.
