John and Mel became husband and wife at Villa Bella Tahoe, known for its panoramic lake views and 4,000 square foot deck. With One Fine Day Events at the planning helm and personal touches added by the couple, everything came together beautifully at this stunning summer wedding. Mel and John met at UC Santa Barbara and became good friends. After college, the couple reconnected in San Francisco as co-workers and began dating a few years later.
Lake Tahoe holds a special place in the couples’ hearts since both grew up going to Tahoe with their families – skiing in the winter and staying on the lake in the summer. “As a couple, we have also spent a lot of time together in Tahoe, and we got engaged at John’s family house near West Shore,” Mel said.
Mel and John’s special day was filled with many highlights. One of them was their friends and family staying at the wedding venue for a few days leading up to the wedding. As a result, they could host a big dinner party and enjoy the beautiful Villa Bella Tahoe. The couple also enjoyed the perks of having a live band – the dance floor was packed for the entire celebration. And last but not least, they would definitely recommend having the ceremony and reception in one place. This allowed the couple and their guests to feel relaxed and enjoy the whole day together.
A few personal touches included the couple’s custom cocktails which were a hit among guests (especially the margaritas). Immediately after the ceremony ended, the caterers began passing appetizers and drinks, which helped minimize a big rush and long line at the bar. Having multiple lounge areas was also a great addition. Since it was a long and warm day, the guests enjoyed having areas to relax in between celebrating. “We both love music and concerts and had customer table names of different concert venues we’ve attended over the years with a short story about the shows we had seen at each venue. We strategically matched guests’ tables with venues where we had seen concerts together.”
