Even though Abby and CJ’s personalities are larger than life, a big flashy wedding was never in the cards for them. Instead, planning a wedding during the pandemic allowed the couple to incorporate everything important to them. It also allowed them to throw the Pinterest expectations out of the window and plan their dream micro-wedding: an intimate cabin affair filled with boho vibes and bright colors.
Abby and CJ go way back; they met at a party and soon became college sweethearts. CJ jokingly tried to charge Abby money to enter the party. The reason? He was taken by her beauty and her gorgeous blue eyes (and can you blame him?!). Later that same evening, Abby said she was hungry. So like a true gentleman, he offered her some peanuts, hence the peanuts getting a nod at the wedding. Abby’s dad brought out a bag of shelled peanuts during his speech as he jokingly recalled this story. While a rare late mid-summer rain started to fall, the guests snacked on peanuts under the umbrellas. Talk about coming full circle!
With only 20 of their nearest and dearest in attendance, the couple had a magical day in the Big Blue. They exchanged their heartfelt vows in a forest with no dry eye in sight. “One of my favorite moments of the entire day was Abby’s ecstatic smile right after their first kiss. She was so stoked to finally call CJ her husband after eight years together. Because of their fun vibe, a 20-person wedding felt like the biggest dance party. The guests smoked cigars, popped champagne, there was classic rockin’, sparklers glowin’, and every single guest danced the night away on the deck. The energy and vibe of their wedding are unmatched,” said Emma Paul from Emma Wynn Paul Photography. What makes this wedding even more special is that the reception was held at CJ’s parents’ cabin in Carnelian Bay, where he has many fond childhood memories.
Emma is often taken back to that special day when she recognizes a song that played at the couple’s wedding. “As a wedding vendor, I actually felt like a guest or even part of the family. It’s truly one of my all-time favorites.”
