High Sierra Wedding at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort

This gorgeous high alpine wedding at Sugar Bowl Resort captured by Shannon Rosan was the perfect combination of love and wilderness. Flowers by Love + Lupines added the perfect pop of end of summer color and hints of summer fruits to create a romantic Indian summer night. Planned by Allison Keasal the couple enjoyed a chairlift cocktail hour, photos overlooking Donner Lake and a reception full of dancing under the stars,

Venue

We knew from the moment we saw Sugar Bowl that this was where we wanted to get married. We both feel so at home in the mountains and have spent many of our weekends in Tahoe. Having been to Sugar Bowl countless times for family trips growing up it held a sentimental place in my heart. A highlight of the venue was the chairlift to the summit for cocktail hour, the views were incredible. The trip up also allowed Trevor and I to get a quiet moment to pause and soak in the moment together in the middle of such a whirlwind day, and was one of my favorite moments of the wedding. Another great aspect of the venue was that so many of our friends and family were able to stay onsite which gave the entire weekend a summer camp vibe.

Sugar Bowl is so gorgeous on its own we didn’t want to do too much to take away from its natural beauty. We wanted any touches we added to complement the beauty and wildness of late summer in Tahoe. We worked with Meghon Shrewsbury from Love and Lupines to craft a floral design full of lush, local flowers and seasonal fruit. There were even figs and blackberries in my bouquet!! We wanted our wedding to be personal and so we named our tables after hikes we’d been on together, and our friends and family DIY’d all of our signage. We feel so grateful for all of our loved ones who contributed their many talents to our wedding day!

A note from the bride:

We were lucky to have minimal hiccups in our planning process and a stellar team of vendors, but all of the logistics and details paled in comparison to the overwhelming joy of having all of our family and friends in one place to celebrate our love. There’s truly no better feeling than looking out on a sea of smiling faces who traveled far and wide to support you and the person you love. It was an unforgettable experience and an incredible way to start our lives together as husband and wife!
