While the rustic, farm look isn’t new to wedding trends, it is still one we are obsessing over. An oldie but a goodie as the saying goes. What we love about the farm themed wedding is there are so many different approaches to this theme and it works for any location and any season. With the natural environment of Lake Tahoe, the rustic farm yard wedding hits it out of the park every time. While you can dress up a farm inspired wedding, the rustic barn yard feel really works if you’re looking for a more causal fun outdoor wedding.
The use of hay is always a good idea. Whether it is for seating or decoration, hay is a great way to give your wedding that homey barn like feel. Hay also pairs well with burlap, linen and fresh flowers…all decor ideas perfect for an outdoor farm inspired wedding. To really get into the farm spirit, if you’re an animal lover, is the use of live animals. Alpacas, lambs and horses are a great way to get the authentic farm feel (plus make for amazing wedding photos). Other trends we are loving under the farm inspired umbrella are; mismatched floral bridesmaid dresses, the use of pallets (especially in furniture) and string light bulbs (these really look good strung between pine trees).
Farm to Table menus are very in at the moment and for good reason. Who doesn’t want fresh in season food that is as locally sourced as possible! To keep the farm theme throughout your entire wedding, consider looking into local catering companies that use sustainable local farmers to get their food. Not only will you be supporting local farmers, you will be eating the freshest food you can get on your big day!
