Tom and Marla’s modern-day fairy tale started when they met through her brother-in-law, Tom’s friend from high school. These days, you’ll find them enjoying the outdoors, watching Harry Potter, spending time with their families and their adorable English Bulldog puppy, Leroy.
After being together for seven years, Tom proposed during a weekend getaway in Ontario, Canada. They stayed in a tiny house on the lake and loved that it was just the two of them for such a big moment. They returned home to celebrate with their family the next day.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, the couple also called Portland, Oregon, home. They visited the majestic Lake Tahoe on a drive between the two places and couldn’t wait to show family and friends where they would tie the knot. And the venue they decided on? The stunning alpine setting of the Hyatt Regency in Incline Village on their Upper Cottage Green. Seeing that the couple doesn’t like being the center of attention, they opted for an intimate affair with 30 guests.
All Marla and Tom’s guests traveled to Tahoe from either the East Coast or different country areas. So they truly had a classic destination wedding and enjoyed an entire weekend with their favorite humans. Think beach days, breweries, and soaking spending a lot of quality time with their guests.
A good friend of Marla, Carly from Carly Black Events, helped design and plan the day, leaving no detail untouched. Luckily, Marla also has an excellent eye for style, hence the dreamy color pallet, the thoughtful pieces, vintage couch, and chair rentals.
“Marla and Tom are the type of couple that gives you faith in the world. Just the sweetest, most humble, down-to-earth humans. Every speech and word that was spoken about them solidified this and proved how solid these two are. Their love and good hearts inspire everyone,” said Emma Paul from Emma Wynn Paul Photography, who captured all the prettiness.
