It’s a fact that romance and winter go well together. Think dreamy snow-capped mountains, stylish coats, wintry florals, and bold décor. And seeing that Tahoe is covered in snow right now, we thought there is no better way to kick off our Best of Series than showcasing the very best winter weddings that Tahoe has to offer. So grab a steaming cup of coffee and relive some of our favorite winter weddings of the past year!

AN EMERALD BAY ELOPEMENT FOR THE STORYBOOKS

Snowy first look? Checked! Stunning overlook? Checked! True love? Checked! What makes Melissa and Chelsea’s elopement even more remarkable is that Melissa’s parents, who have been married for 30+ years, got married here as well! Like, how cool is that? But the cherry on the cake was definitely when a bald eagle flew directly over them as they said their I do’s and shared their first kiss as wife and wife. Don’t believe us? Go check out their Emerald Bay elopement that is sure to add warmth to even the frostiest of days!

EXPLOSION OF COLOR

Even though Bailey and David’s original wedding plan included a 3-mile hike and sunshine (and not a record storm in October), their lakeside ceremony exceeded all expectations. The vibrant yellow leaves made the perfect backdrop for this autumn-winter wonderland. And if that wasn’t enough, the looks that the couple exchanged throughout their special day were enough to make anyone’s heart melt!

SNOWY PERFECTION

It’s the lace layered over this ballgown, the pops of red in the bouquet, the snow-capped mountains … Who are we kidding? It’s everything about Stephanie and Justin’s dreamy elopement that makes us want to move our imaginary wedding to winter! Lake Tahoe was nothing short of a winter wonderland when Christa Deane from Mountain High Weddings made Stephanie and Justin’s love official. And lucky for us, VILD Photography ensured no special moment was left uncaptured. See the full wedding here!

WINTER WONDERLAND

Valerie and Fidel originally planned to get married in Tahoe. But, like so many other couples, they needed to change their plans due to COVID-19. Unfortunately, that also meant that Stephanie DioDato could not officiate for them anymore, so she guided a friend of theirs (who happened to introduce them) through the officiating process. From becoming an ordained officiant to writing the ceremony script and providing tips on officiating, she was there for them every step of the way. And the result left us speechless!

LOVE ON THE SLOPES

Keith and Jackie named their cat after a ski resort, so to say that they like the slopes is an understatement. The adventurous duo first took to the slopes when Jackie brought Keith to her home mountain of Bretton Woods in New Hampshire. A few ski trips and a romantic Tahoe engagement soon followed. So it came as no surprise to people when the couple decided to tie the knot at Palisades Tahoe, surrounded by the scenic Sierra Nevada mountain range. From beautiful white florals to the mountains engraved on Keith’s ring, this is one winter love affair that you don’t want to miss out on. See the full wedding here!
