Best of 2021: Elopement

The popularity of elopements has been on the rise the last couple of years, and we totally get it! Where elopements previously meant getting married without telling your nearest and dearest, it now means flexibility, authenticity, and less drama! And did we mention more bang for your buck? As a result, more couples opt to steer away from big weddings, leaving room for creativity, as you’ll see in this blog post. So grab a cup of coffee and scroll through a few of our favorite elopements of this past year. And who knows, it might inspire you to plan your own Tahoe elopement!

INTIMATE WOODSY CELEBRATION

We love the fall boho vibes we’re getting from Amalia and Chris’s South Lake Tahoe elopement. And can you blame us? The couple’s intimate woodsy celebration came to life on their 9th dating anniversary and just when you think it can’t get any more perfect you find out they did their first look at a nearby pier where they had carved their initials five years ago. So dreamy!

OFF THE BEATEN PATH

The silver lining to scrapping your wedding plans due to the pandemic is the freedom it offers to make your wedding day unique. And that is exactly what Elizabeth and Matt (and their dog Louie) did when they eloped on a mountain top and embarked on an off-road adventure. See the full elopement here!

HISTORIC ELOPEMENT

Lois and Matt are not strangers to Tahoe, so it came as no surprise when they decided to have their small and stress-free elopement at the popular Lake Tahoe elopement venue Olympic Valley Stables. With a few friends, the iconic peaks of Squaw Valley in the background, a tripod, and a laptop configuration that allowed additional guests to attend virtually, the couple became husband and wife. FULL CIRCLE

Shinne and Randy’s first trip to Tahoe during winter enticed them to return for a summer elopement. And, of course, it was inspired by the crystal clear waters of Lake Tahoe. Their celebration of love took them to various spectacular locations around the lake – from a waterfall high above Emerald Bay to LED night kayaking with their videographers, Dax and Pao of Dax Victorino Films. And yes, this wispy arch of foliage that framed the couple against the backdrop of the lake still has us swooning. Check out their picture-perfect elopement in South Lake Tahoe.

MODERN MINIMALISM

Sometimes less is more, as seen in Candice and Matt’s modern minimalist Tahoe elopement. Think dramatic forest and lake scenes, complemented by fresh Tahoe air. Even their first look on a pier seemed to come right out of a storybook. Thanks to Tahoe elopement photographers VILD Photography, we can relive all the picture-perfect moments here!

MOUNTAIN MEMORIES

The former high school sweethearts, Sadie and Ty, dated for six years before they made their love official on a mountain top. They gave Lake Tahoe elopement planner Ruthanne Z. full reins to plan their special day, and they were absolutely blown away by the results. And so are we!
