Behind the Lens with Bianca Sciotto

Bianca Sciotto’s authentic, soulful approach to living comes alive in her wedding photographer. A visual storyteller, Bianca is fascinated by what she calls “those in between moments filled with tiny little truths that organically unfold before we have a chance to alter them.” In a word, she captures wedding images that are utterly poetic. In this post, we get to know a little more about this Lake Tahoe native and get her take on inspiration, Tahoe living, and more.

What brings you the greatest joy in your life?

Being in the mountains with the people I love. My family. And my sweet pup, Hank.

What brought you to Tahoe?

I grew up around Tahoe, near Mt. Rose, but left after high school. I bounced around the West Coast from different big cities to small mountain towns, and eventually decided I wanted to come back to the place I fell in love with as a child. I feel the most at home amongst the mountains of the Sierra and I’m so grateful and blessed to call Tahoe home.

What inspires your work?

Everything. Mother earth, the human element, emotions and the daily happenings of life. Beauty is everywhere! I want to tell stories with my lens, bringing people back to a feeling, allowing them to pause, reflect, and be still.

Tahoe lifestyle: winter or summer?

Both, I can’t choose! Mountain biking and skiing are my passions which is why Tahoe is such a dreamland to me.

If you weren’t a wedding photographer, what would you do?

Something in the music industry. Music is such a huge part of my life so I’d love to do something in that realm, perhaps a sound engineer or something in recording.

How would you describe the perfect day in Lake Tahoe?

Early morning walk with my pup in Squaw Valley, an adventure in the mountains with my girlfriends, either skiing or biking, a dip in the lake and a bbq on the beach as the sun sets on Tahoe. Perfection!

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of the way I move through the world with authenticity. I am and always have been unafraid to be myself. I aim to be graceful and present, kind and compassionate. I strive to push myself and be resilient in my pursuits. I’m proud that I encourage women around me to be strong and confident and unapologetically themselves.

Who inspires you the most?

My mother. She is the truest example of love I have ever seen. Her presence on this planet makes everything brighter and more pure. She is a light.

What is your life motto?

Consistency of purpose.

What was the most recent thing that made you laugh?

My dog Hank, he makes me laugh everyday. Sweet silly boy!

Working in the wedding industry is not for the faint of heart. How do you rest and rejuvenate?

I spend time in the mountains. Riding my bike, skiing, trail running, paddle boarding. They all help me maintain my center and keep balance in my life.

What is something people might not know about you?

I play the piano. I was a classically trained pianist my whole life growing up. I still love to sit down and play. I’m so grateful to have been given the gift of music.

Pets: Any four-legged friends in your home?

Clearly obsessed as I have already mentioned him multiple times, so, yes. I have a 9 year old Boston Terrier named Hank. He was born on 11/11/11 and is the bestest friend a girl could ever have.
