A Sweet and Sentimental Elopement on the West Shore

You’ll have to scroll to the bottom of this post to see our favorite sentimental detail from Kate and Matt’s West Shore wedding, but the entire day was sweet and stylish in so many ways!

The couple found their photographer, Calvin Hobson, on the Tahoe Unveiled Instagram feed and originally planned to wed at the Gatekeeper’s Museum in Tahoe City. When faced with the impacts and restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic, Kate and Matt chose to significantly downsize rather than postpone and ended up proceeding with just their families present.

The picnic area at 64 Acres Park offered a similar setting and close proximity to Lake Tahoe for stunning wedding portraits. For the ceremony and celebration itself, Kate and Matt’s families were not just present but intimately involved in each and every detail.

Kate’s uncles took on officiant and music duties (bagpipes!) while Matthew’s mom made all of the florals and decor, as well as providing appetizers and the magnificent cheese wheel cake. The bride’s cousin made the desserts and her mom styled her classic loose chignon.

Calvin’s stunning photos captured it all and we’ve got to tell you: we’ve had brides select him as their photographer before they even get engaged. Keep scrolling to see why! Thank goodness he was on hand for Kate and Matt’s “Just Married” getaway in the same ’57 Austin Healey that was used in the grooms’ parents’ wedding in 1987!

Congratulations Kate and Matt – we’re so pleased to share your special day!
