A Springtime Alpenglow Elopement Above Donner Lake

Angie and Robert were married in an intimate, formal elopement high above Donner Lake.

The mountains are their “special place” together and, after a long friendship turned relationship, Robert proposed to Angie at June Lake in the Eastern Sierra on their annual camping and fishing trip.

Working with Truckee-based photographer/elopement specialist Ruthanne Z. and officiant Meredith Richmond, eloping on the Western side of the Sierra allowed the couple’s parents to be with them for their ceremony.

After arriving at the ceremony location, Angie and Robert opted for a “first look,” enjoying a few special moments alone as a couple before their families arrived.

Robert took photos in his Army dress uniform and changed to a black tux for the ceremony itself.

The bride is a hairstylist and styled her own perfect up-do to complement her sheer bodice gown, but switched to mountain-ready UGG hiking boots after the sun went down.

Angie describes the mountain setting where they exchanged their vows as “out of a painting” – white capped mountains, big trees, abundant sunshine, and the calm lake far below.

“Not only did we have the ideal, romantic elopement – we have gorgeous pictures to prove it!” she added.
