A Rustic Lodge Wedding in the Lost Sierra

Rio and Jess spent the weekend at Chalet View Lodge surrounded by their family and friends and celebrating their love. As per standard at Chalet View Lodge, Jess and Rio had the whole venue to themselves for the entire weekend. Which could not have been a more perfect wedding venue for them and their love for the Sierra. Planned by Leann Kennedy at Chalet View Lodge and captured by VILD Photography, every detail made for a truly picturesque weekend. The forecasted rain proved to be a false alarm and the dark clouds created a gorgeous natural light that lasted throughout the entire day. Grey’s Flower Garden provided absolutely stunning flowers that added just the right pop of color against the dark pine trees.

Our favorite part of this wedding was in the details. Some of our favorite included the mini mason jars (engraved with R+J for the couple’s initials) filled with shots of tequila, the Easter egg hunt planned for the day after the wedding, and the amazing live band that kept everyone dancing from beginning to end. However, one of the most memorable moments happened at the reception, when Rio’s brother, Forest, gave his speech via Skype on a big screen. He couldn’t make it to the wedding because he is actively serving in the military, so it was so sweet and incredibly moving how he was included. There was not a dry eye in the crowd after hearing him talk so sincerely about God and the love Rio and Jess have for each other and in their families.

As the evening continued, the couple snuck away (along with their dog, Reagan) for a private walk so they could soak it all in (complete with their newly embroidered Mr. and Mrs. jackets). To end the perfect day, everyone sent Rio and Jess off with sparklers and, our favorite, ice cream sandwiches.
