Lindsey and Jake met while studying Aeronautics and Astronautics together as undergraduates at MIT and bonded over not just their scientific curiosity but also a strong desire to explore and experience the world. Fast-forward a few years, their technical planning chops and sense of adventure combined to engineer a high altitude rendezvous of a wedding weekend that was truly out of this world!
With an all-star vendor team, including photographer Holly Shankland, and a lineup of local favorites for welcome and after parties, the couple showed their guests the very best the Truckee-Tahoe region has to offer – and had a blast all weekend long. Friends and family first got to mix and mingle at the Uncorked wine bar in Truckee, with many of the guests and wedding party staying at the nearby Cedar House Sport Hotel.
For their wedding venue, Lindsey and Jake chose Dancing Pines for its “epic cathedral of trees” and private, secluded atmosphere. The triangular arch created by Love and Lupines, adorned with a neutral palette of roses and wildflowers, perfectly framed this sweet couple as they said their vows along the banks of the Little Truckee River. A few scattered boulders and a camp blanket added to the natural feel. Meredith Richmond performed the ceremony, including a handfasting.
The spacious reception area at Dancing Pines allows for creative lounge seating on a stone paver patio, a flat turf space for dining tables, and a wood dance floor, all surrounded by tall pines, native shrubs, and riverfront views. Guests enjoyed handcrafted cocktails by Stirred N’ Shaken along with buffet-style bites and a gorgeous hexagonal wedding cake may or may not have been a mathematical reference.
After the dancing subsided, the after party moved to the Alibi Ale Works Public House in Truckee and then the couple jetted off to the Andes to climb the Cerro Toco volcano at 18,386 feet. (How very Tahoe to use your wedding as altitude training for an epic peak?!) Congratulations Lindsey and Jake – we don’t know where you are headed next but we’re sure it will be beyond!
