A snowy Micro Wedding in Tahoe City

Kelly and Marcale got engaged just two days before California entered official Shelter In Place status in March 2020 due to Covid 19. With the stress of the pandemic unfolding and amplifying every day, planning a wedding sounded next to impossible.

Then, as luck would have it, someone at the dog park suggested they follow Lake Tahoe elopement specialist Ruthanne Z. on Instagram. Kelly and Marcale quickly fell in love with Ruthanne’s photos but also her passion for making sure each couple’s celebration is uniquely for and about them. Tahoe is a special place for the couple, who are both California natives, and, as they say, the rest is history.

Kelly and Marcale’s day started with a sunrise hike high above the lake with their pup, Marleau, followed by brunch and a stress free approach to “getting ready.” Nineteen family and friends joined them in the middle of the forest for their ceremony at a hush-hush location between Truckee and Tahoe.

For contrast against the snowy scene, Kelly and Marcale opted for shades of blue in the bride’s fur shrug, the groom’s suit, and personalized touches like custom vow notebooks. Love and Lupines created the bride’s gorgeous winter bouquet.

Following the ceremony, the couple hiked to another vista to watch the sunset on what Kelly calls their “absolutely perfect day.” Back at the AirBnB that evening, a personal chef prepared an amazing meal for their intimate celebration. And then, of course, the living room turned into a dance floor!

Congratulations Kelly and Marcale – your micro wedding really was perfect in every way!
