I’ll just start with saying that some of my favorite wedding themes are bohemian, alternative, indie, and woodsy. And that’s just the reason I’m loving today’s wedding! Karen and James’ Lake Tahoe wedding at The HideOut would fit any one of my favorite themes. From the diverse array of botanicals to the macrame dreamcatchers,  Kate Whelan Events created a day that lives in boho-indie wedding heaven. The spectacular gallery from Sarah Maren Photography depicts a day filled with love, creativity and spontaneity.

A surprise rainstorm joined the wedding day just before the ceremony. The couple and their guests waited out the showers while sipping cocktails under the pine trees.

Karen and James were married at the gorgeous Tahoe-area venue, The HideOut in Kirkwood. Karen’s bohemian dreams were realized by adding handmade dream catchers in ever nook and cranny, pheasant feathers tucked into textural flowers and even a mini teepee. The couple and their guests endured some stormy Tahoe weather by having their Cocktail Hour first, followed by their Ceremony and rocking’ into the Reception, entertained by their many musical guests.

From the photographer,  Sarah ~
Karen and James had an AMAZING wedding at The Hideout in Kirkwood, California. It was seriously one of the most incredible weddings ever! Yes, there was hail and rain RIGHT when the ceremony was supposed to happen. But Karen and James had the Alchemy team on hand, and we moved things around and had a cocktail hour first and then once the rain passed we got these two MARRIED! It was a great night with a fantastic group of people and holy cow I LOVE this wedding!

Pearl East Shore Tahoe Wedding-9

This wedding, planned by Blue Sky Events, set on the idyllic eastern shores of Lake Tahoe, perfectly represents the blending of elegance with nature that make weddings on Lake Tahoe truly unique. The flower arrangements incorporated delicate muted neutral roses with hearty succulents. This unification theme seen in the flower arrangements is carried throughout the Pearl wedding. The minimalist table décor and runner, provided by La Tavola linens, allowed guest to toast and converse with simplicity.

While the beauty of Lake Tahoe speaks for itself, it is often with just a little emphasis, that it can be brought to entirely new levels of beauty. The Pearl wedding proved, that with a backdrop of rustic, forest greens and deep, lake blues, all you need to make you wedding photos pop (photography provided by Emily Scannell) is a blissfully happy couple, elegant grey bridesmaids dresses, succulent buttoners, and minimalist, shabby-chic décor with the occasional pop of color.

Pearl and Wyeth had their Lake Tahoe wedding beautifully captured by one of Tahoe Unveiled’s favorite videographers, Reel Eyes Media.

Pearl and Wyeth planned a wedding at The Fairwinds Estate in Lake Tahoe. What they didn’t plan for, however, was rain. But even when faced with a potential down pour on their outdoor wedding, the pair remained calm. The storm clouds eventually passed after some rain, but it made for the most gorgeous day–and photos!

Anne and Pete worked closely with Truckee based wedding planner, Summit Soiree and Tahoe City based D’lish Catering  for their summer Lake Tahoe Wedding. Together, they decided on Tahoe’s historic Thunderbird Lodge as the backdrop for their summer wedding which incorporated an intimate ceremony of subtle nautical blues and whites with a lively after-party, at Incline Villages Hyatt Regency, complete with signature cocktails, life size Jenga and music by Brian Hess.  Photographer, Melina Wallisch braved the elements and adapted to last minute weather related changes to capture their day perfectly.

Anne and Pete reside in Portola Valley, CA and married at the historic Thunderbird Lodge… Anne’s love of travel coupled beautifully with Pete’s adventurous spirit… their nautical themed wedding was a weather infused mountain soiree! The pouring rain was a happy welcome after Lake Tahoe had been engulfed in smoke all week from fire… many day-before and last-minute decisions were made… the entire ceremony and reception were rearranged and moved the to night before! We were so happy to have an outdoor ceremony, and nobody would’ve guessed anything had been changed… the day was pulled off splendidly with a seamlessly awesome design team… I am so thrilled to share this wedding with you… xo

Lauren and Jon were married in a beautiful mountaintop ceremony at Northstar’s Zephyr Lodge. Everyone made a grand entrance via the ski gondola to the stunning ceremony site, then enjoyed cocktail hour on the deck before dining in the rustic mountain ski lodge. Love is in The Hair, some of our favorite beauty professionals, were on scene to ensure all the ladies looked completely stunning. And wedding photographers, The Nichols, captured the day beautifully. Check it all out in the gallery below.

Lauren and Jon choose a color palette of navy blue, with the bridesmaids wearing mis-matched floral patterns in blues. It all paired together so nicely! The beautiful ceremony chuppah was constructed of birch trees with floral accents of white peonies and and pale peach antique roses. It was sunny skies and a cool breeze, with a stunning mountain view. All in all, it was a picture perfect day for the newlyweds!

We are so incredibly excited to share Tahoe Unveiled photographer, Catherine Hall’s Lake Tahoe wedding at Pinecone Manor, a stunning lakefront private estate. Catherine’s artistic DNA came into play during planning, and she and Erik envisioned a wedding that represented the couple: warm, modern and unique. For the two, being completely present on their wedding day was also important. That meant working with a team, and Lake Tahoe wedding vendors, that they could trust completely.

The couple collaborated with wedding planner Melissa Panico of MAP Events, event designer Asiel Design, and rental company Camelot Party Rentals to work with the natural beauty of their Lake Tahoe venue. “The environment of Tahoe and the lake is so beautiful that we wanted the design to complement, not compete,” Catherine says. With the couple’s direction, the team created a stunning, secluded retreat on a charming lakeside manor owned by a close family friend. It was a perfect blend of romantic and rustic: elegant white roses paired with natural greenery, tiny glass vessels filled with wildflowers, tables adorned with pinecones and knotty wood accents. The talented photographer JB Sallee captured the day beautifully in the gallery below.

As a photographer and creative director of Catherine Hall Studios, Catherine knows how to capture the moment. And so when she spotted Erik on the dance floor at a yoga festival, she knew that she had to take action. After some urging from her sister, Catherine asked Erik to dance. They stayed up until 3 in the morning, and the rest was history. “I knew she was the one after our first kiss that night,” Erik says.

It was on a trip to the Redwoods that Erik, owner of Strategic Event Evolution and Design, made it official. He led Catherine to a secluded redwood grove, the very spot where they first realized that they were both falling deeply in love. Surrounded by towering redwood trees, Erik proposed. “I was so shocked that I did not even answer yes for a long time,” Catherine recalls. “He had to ask me twice!” Of course, she happily accepted the ring, a sparkling vintage piece carefully chosen by the groom.

For her “something borrowed” and “something blue,” Catherine wore her grandmother’s favorite aquamarine ring, and her grandmother’s wedding band was displayed on the bouquet.

Catherine wore a delicate fluted lace dress from Pronovias while the groom donned a handsome blue Ted Baker suit. The bridesmaids wore floor-length BHLDN dresses in a pretty shade of periwinkle, paired with JBalducci moondrop earrings gifted by the bride. The groomsmen wore gray suits, complete with matching Michael Kors ties gifted by Erik. Personal touches made the big day all the more special.

With the serene waters of Lake Tahoe as their backdrop, the couple exchanged their vows.

For drinks, they served cocktails, both hilariously named by Erik: The Bridezilla and The Yes Man.

The gorgeous swirled white cake sat atop a tree stump, and lights twinkled from above.

Erik also surprised the bride with a heartfelt gift that symbolized their relationship. “When we first started dating, we were at a gallery and I noticed an art piece that showed an extreme, most beautiful connection between the couple,” she says fondly. “I remarked that this connection reminded me of us. He surprised me with the original painting.” Through the excitement, Catherine and Erik treasured being in the moment on their wedding day, and Catherine had a word of advice for other brides-to-be: “Be present on the wedding day,” she says. “Don’t stress out. Enjoy every minute.”

The night before the Big Day is something to be celebrated. And an evening along the lake with a Gar Woods’ signature cocktail, The Wet Woody, in hand is the ultimate way to party in Lake Tahoe. The bride and her new Mother-in-Law decided on a nautical theme with bright colors to differentiate from the wedding day that would have a more elegant look. Elise Events was behind the scenes helping the couple craft every nautical detail.

The one and only Mike Larson was there to capture every moment and the bride tells the story of her day below.

With our wedding taking place at the gorgeous Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe, a mountainside resort, we knew we had to incorporate the lake into our rehearsal dinner. After researching and looking at a few possible venues, we came across Gar Woods Grill & Pier. With its floor to ceiling windows sprawling the entire length of the restaurant, our guests could enjoy a full 180 degree view of the lake all evening from the 2nd floor entertainment space. It was exactly what we were looking for.

Designing a nautical themed event was so much fun because the possibilities available are endless! After searching for ideas on Pinterest, I stumbled upon the most clever escort card design, which we enjoyed recreating. We took floatable key fobs, which we personalized with our wedding date, and then attached the cards to them. Our guests enjoyed searching for their escort cards and fobs, which were clipped to an authentic fishing net.

Not only were our vendors incredible, but the staff and service at Gar Woods was exceptional as well. During the planning process, Amy Grisby’s patience and responsiveness was invaluable. She truly helped us create the event of a lifetime. The waiting staff at Gar Woods was beyond amazing. They allowed for our guests to make special food-related requests (i.e. accommodating our veggie lovers by offering two different vegetarian entree selections) and truly provided exceptional customer service.

We wanted the night to look and feel completely different than the wedding. Our wedding would be elegant with soft, romantic colors, so we wanted our rehearsal dinner to be sophisticated, yet relaxed and fun. My Mother-In-Law decided on a nautical theme, and together, we chose a navy and yellow color palette, as well as, various design elements. Our wedding coordinator, Danielle, from Elise Events, found a fabulous navy tablecloth with a white rope pattern for the dinner tables and a navy and white stripe tablecloth for the cocktail tables. We then accentuated the look with bright yellow napkins. Our talented calligrapher, Vita, from Pop Calligraphy, used water color to create our place cards and table numbers, which we then displayed on the tables with Monkey’s Fists (a nautical knot).

Our florist, Natasha Kolenko, completely outdid herself. We followed her suggestion to add orange as an accent color to the yellow and green arrangements we already had requested, and we couldn’t have been more pleased with the outcome. Our stunning floral arrangements were rich in color and texture, and they really popped against the tablecloths.

105655Mike_Larson_0009_whitneykristine_MLP_3250 105857Mike_Larson_0011_whitneykristine_MLP_3252 107069Mike_Larson_0023_whitneykristine_MLP_3325 106665Mike_Larson_0019_whitneykristine_MLP_3294

Choosing Gar Woods as our rehearsal dinner venue made for a few unique bonus options. The first was having a Wet Woody station – Gar Woods’ signature rum & fruit cocktail. Our guests could sip the different variations of the Wet Woody while overlooking the view of the lake off the balcony. The second was our grand entrance on the classic mahogany wooden boat. My husband has always had a fond appreciation for these gorgeous boats and when he saw the dock, he couldn’t think of a better way for us to join our rehearsal dinner party.

There aren’t enough words to describe the excitement my husband and I felt when we rode in to our rehearsal dinner on a classic woody with 70 of our closest friends and family members waving and cheering. The evening was a huge success across the board. We ate delicious food, enjoyed the impeccable service, and listened to the memorable toasts made by our family and friends. Apart from our wedding, it was the best evening of my husband’s and my life. Our rehearsal dinner was a magical evening filled with love and is one that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.
