You’ve made the first step in ensuring your special day is truly memorable by choosing a Tahoe wedding venue. Now, it’s time to seal the deal with a beautifully put-together wedding party. From dress color to silhouette, you can achieve that elegant but eye-catching look you’re after, but one way you can’t is by making each bridesmaid wear the same dress.

Why do matching dresses potentially work against the beauty of your Tahoe wedding? Because every body is different.

The key to creating a striking bridal party is to embrace the mismatched look. Some bridesmaids will feel more comfortable with sleeves, others will prefer a body that’s loose and flowy. Ultimately, the more at-ease your bridesmaids feel, the happier you’ll be, and the better the whole day will turn out.

Here are 5 ways your bridal party can nail it on the mismatched front:

1. Coordinate just print or color: Leave it up to your bridesmaids to pick the cut that suits their body most, but keep the print or color the same. This way you avoid a chaotic look, but encourage personality.

2. Set a theme: Your bridesmaids dresses don’t actually have to match at all in cut or style if you have a theme. Take “vintage,” for example; it’s virtually impossible to find multiple identical vintage dresses, but if each bridesmaid is wearing a vintage number, the party will look cohesive. Groomsmen can tie the look together by finding a pocket square that matches each of the bridesmaids.

3. Throw in matching cardigans: Cardigans (with sleeves either above the shoulder for warmer months, or below for colder days) help bring a slew of different bridesmaids dresses together. Bonus: since a Tahoe wedding can get chilly in the evening, your bridesmaids can stay warm while looking the part.

4. Coordinate with your bouquet: Encourage your bridesmaids to pick a dress they feel most comfortable in that at least matches one of the flowers in your wedding bouquet. Not only will this add to the uniqueness of your Lake Tahoe wedding, it’ll bring the look full-circle.

5. Find a common factor: Tell your bridesmaids the vibe you’re going for, and then ask them to send you a few dresses that’d boost their confidence. Chance are you’ll be able to find a common thread, ensuring all your girls are happy. You can also find a common factor by curating your bridal party look around a design detail, like sequins. In this case, each dress could differ entirely, but have sequins in common.

There are countless color combinations that are flattering for a wedding but one of the best color schemes Lake Tahoe wedding couples are embracing is copper and navy. These colors tend to have a calming effect on people and makes them feel peaceful and at ease.

Incorporating navy and copper into your wedding décor is easy to do and is always easy on your eyes. The color combination works well on everything from the place settings and napkins to the ceremony backdrop and lounge furniture. It can also be worked into the wedding cake, the décor of the venue and, in some cases even the dress worn by the bridesmaids. It is hard to go wrong when a couple uses copper and navy as their wedding color scheme. It gives them many options when it comes to personalizing the wedding to match their tastes.

Summery Wedding Ideas Using Lemons!

Yellow is one of my all time favorite summer colors, and foods for that matter – lemon cupcakes, bright lemon sundresses, lemonade….the list could go on! One way to brighten up your color palette would be an infusion of this totally summer worthy color. Drip your ceremony in bright yellow florals, cover a table with lemony cupcakes, greet your guests with a refreshing burst-of-lemon inspired cocktail, or finish your night off with a lemon-drop martini!

We love the idea of incorporating bright, pops of color into your wedding decor and palette. These elements can be as subtle or as extravagant as you want but we love pairing bright colors with the rustic charm that goes along with a Lake Tahoe wedding.

If these bright colors are too much for your partner we suggest incorporating them in a bridal shower or similar event.

Mike and Erin call San Diego home, but recognize the grandiose beauty that is  Graeagle and that is why they decided on a destination wedding at an estate in Northern California. With the threat of thundercloud looming the distant mountain ridges, photographers Handlebar Studios & Motivity Films, used the serene lighting to their advantage and captured the day beautifully.  Thankfully, the rain subsided all day!

The couple’s theme of lace, pearls and pastel pinks and blues looked magnificent with the Graeagle backdrop. One of our favorite features of their wedding was the truffle bar, in addition to their peony topped cake.

The couple chose Motivity Films to capture their Graeagle wedding.

Erin and Mike actually live in the San Diego area but decided on a Graeagle wedding in Northern California instead. The day was beautiful with the perfect cloud coverage. The rain storms skirted along the mountains in the distance and luckily for everyone at the wedding, there was no rain. We were left with some seriously amazing views from just about every angle.  Chrissy at Quality Event Design did a fabulous job making Erin and Mike’s ideas a reality.  Soft pinks and Robin Egg blue were the perfect blend and the decor nicely complimented the property without being over the top.
