As we know, a couple can control the majority of the aspects of their wedding but weather is something that is totally left up to mother-nature. But when planning a winter wedding, you cannot help but dream of snow flurries to add that little extra touch of magic to an already romanic day. For Page and Ken, they experienced every season in the time span of 4 days….and thankfully a big ol’ snow storm was one of them! It poured with rain the morning of the wedding and then all of a sudden, we received the biggest snow storm of the season and it just started dumping. Needless to say, they extended their trip to enjoy a few powder days after the wedding!
Here we have yet another wedding beautifully executed by One Fine Day Events and photographed by Cooper Carras Photography, set in the idyllic, cozy setting that is PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn. With the help of the makeup artists at House of Blackbird the bride and her wedding party looked beautiful, even when their makeup was exposed to the elements. The evening ended in true party fashion with the musical stylings of Ike and Martin who led guests to dance well into the night.
From One Fine Day Events:
Page and Ken hired us to plan an incredible destination winter wedding in 4 months time. This couple and their families were so much fun to work with and made it a breeze to produce 3 large events in a short time frame. They wanted to make sure they would have time to see everyone that traveled from all over. So we planned numerous events all centrally located in Squaw within walking distance from their lodging. From the Apres Ski Party to the Welcome Party to the Wedding and then the brunch, it was the perfect way to bring everyone together to enjoy this weekend to the fullest.
When it came to the wedding, Page and Ken asked us to create a romantic dining room with tons of candles and ambient lighting…followed by an awesome dance party! From there they let us take the reigns and get to designing. They really liked a simple color palette of grays and neutrals complimented by the rustic setting of Tahoe. So we used linens that reflected the look of birch wood as well as hand made gold paper. We went on a mission to shop for inspiration in San Francisco and found the most beautiful collection of paper in various patterns….we used these down the center of the wooden tables to add some color and texture to the wood. Additionally, they didn’t love the ceiling at the venue, so we designed a full canopy to cover the ceiling and added lights underneath the fabric to line the walls – this created a really beautiful and soft backdrop instead of what would have been a plain wall. Floating candles and votives lined every table and provided the majority of the light in the room, but was also complimented by a large chandelier and manzanita trees cluttered with hanging candles in glass balls. After a series of incredible speeches, guests proceeded upstairs to dance the night away with the band. As they walked up the stairs they could see the giant snow flakes blanketing the ground….winter had finally arrived at the end of March! For the reception, we lit up the cocktail tables from underneath to provide a glow and more ambient lighting. We brought in trees covered with lights to add a little dimension to the lounge furniture nooks and to fill vacant space in the room. It was such a beautiful celebration for an amazing couple.
