Real Wedding | Wedding on the Shores

This past October, Johnstone Studios photographed a gorgeous rustic wedding at Camp Richardson in South Lake Tahoe. Tourine kindly tells us all about the wedding below the following pics!

From Tourine Johnstone, owner of Johnstone Studios

The couple is from Chicago and when looking for a location to get married, Monique, who spent her summers here at Camp Richardson, suggested to Don that they travel out and take a look at Camp Richardson for their wedding. We photographed their engagement session a year prior to their wedding this past October and Don fell in love with Lake Tahoe. They hope to relocate here in the future! Inviting their closest family and friends, this intimate event had the perfect backdrop of a beautiful Fall Lake Tahoe day. The calm of the Lake, as is common for Fall days, set a peaceful stage to their vow exchange on the dock outside the Camp Richardson Resort. Hiring Johnstone Studios to capture their wedding day, they wanted a focus on a bridal session for the two of them. As the wedding itself was minimal in detail, their focus was on creating a memory of their day in Lake Tahoe. From this photographic memory they have a record of the start of their future together as husband and wife.

The importance of the bridal session is not to be overlooked on the wedding day. It is these artistic and directed images that will be cherished forever and hopefully for future generations as a family grows from a couple to a larger family. Monique and Don dedicated over an hour to their bridal session, planning for an evening dinner reception after their photos. Guests enjoyed time to relax on the beach, have a cocktail at the Camp Richardson restaurant and reflect on their visit to the Lake, many for the first time.

Monique and Tourine coordinated some ideas for the bridal session during a consultation before the wedding day. Incorporating props, such as their just married sign, and the remodeled VW that was a wedding present from her brother really added to the session. Working with your photographer to enhance your bridal session with momentos and props or ideas that incorporate the elements that you love about your venue add to make cute photos.

  1. Love that shot of the couple on the motorcycle. FYI: Oxy Clean gets chain grease out of wedding gowns {wink!}
