A few weeks ago we shared Ashley and Dustin’s upbeat Lake Tahoe wedding video by Johnny B Films, and today we are very excited to share all the details and beautiful images from Sun and Life Photography. From the natural wood reception rentals provided by Camelot Party Rentals, the Tahoe City wedding ceremony at the Gatekeeper’s Museum, to dinner and drinks provided by As You Wish Catering, this wedding is gorgeous in every way.
From the bride, Ashley ~
Our wedding day was wonderful, it was truly a reflection of us, and our love for our friends and family. Choosing to get married in Lake Tahoe was an easy decision. I was born and raised in Tahoe City, and as a couple we’ve created so many wonderful memories there over the years. We fell in love with the Gatekeeper’s Museum. It was the first venue we looked at and we knew instantly it was where we wanted to say “I do.” We were looking for a venue right on the lake with a blank slate, a location that we could make our own, and the Museum offered just that.
We chose to have our “first look” in the meadow at Squaw Valley. We wanted to incorporate the majestic beauty of both the Lake and the mountains into our wedding. I grew up skiing at Squaw and Dustin and I have spent a lot of time on the mountain together. Plus, the dramatic backdrop is jaw dropping!
Our wedding was truly a family effort. My dad handmade the beautiful copper and wood BAR sign, my uncle crafted the doors for the entrance to our ceremony, he also made the corn hole and Jenga game for people to enjoy during cocktail hour. We handed out my grandmother’s heirloom handkerchiefs for people to use for their “happy tears” during the ceremony, and my aunt designed our programs, menus and other signage. Dustin and I handcrafted all the chalkboard and barn wood signs. We also designed our save the dates and our wedding invitation suite. It was a true joy to see it all come together the day of our wedding.
We are so grateful for our incredible team of vendors. Hiring people who you trust and who share your vision is so important. My biggest piece of advice to other brides is to invest in a videographer and at least a day of coordinator. Our wedding coordinators, Take the Cake Events, made everything go so smoothly. We went back and forth on the additional expense of a videographer, however we decided that it was important to us, and we’re so happy we sprung for it! Johnny B captured the spirit of our love and our wedding day so perfectly. Our video is something we will treasure for a lifetime.
I have so many amazing memories from that day; it was truly the best day of our lives. We worked closely with our officiant, Mark Frady, to compose a beautiful ceremony that incorporated so much of who we are as a couple. Our mothers each read a reading we had chosen, and Dustin and I wrote our own vows, which made our ceremony incredibly special. The dance floor was packed all night; it was wonderful to see all of our closest friends and family having a blast. A few times throughout the evening we took a moment to ourselves to just look around and take it all it. It is a day we will never forget!
